New Delhi: The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC), Central University of Haryana, successfully organized the 40th NEP 2020 ‘Orientation and Sensitization Programme’ Organised from September 15-23, 2026. The programme was organized under the esteemed patronage and visionary leadership of Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana. His constant encouragement and commitment to quality higher education provided direction and strength to the academic initiatives of the UGC-MMTTC. The programme was also conducted with the valuable guidance and support of Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, whose academic vision and institutional support contributed significantly to the successful organization of the programme.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Nagendra Kumar, Senior Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand, as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. In his insightful and thought-provoking address on “Academic Autonomy and Choice to Students,” he provided an overview of the historical evolution of India’s education system, beginning with the colonial legacy of Macaulay’s Minute (1835)and Wood’s Despatch (1854), which contributed to the development of a centralized and examination-oriented framework. He also highlighted the contributions of the Radhakrishnan Commission and Mudaliar Commissionto post-independence educational reforms and the gradual evolution of academic autonomy. The session concluded by emphasizing how NEP 2020 marks a paradigm shifts towards multidisciplinary education, learner choice, credit mobility, and institutional autonomy, thereby promoting a more flexible, inclusive, and student-centric educational ecosystem.
