Chamoli: Debris and water entered an under-construction tunnel of THDC in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, trapping around 23 people inside, according to Uttarakhand Police.
Rescue and relief operations have been launched at the site. So far, 13 people have been safely rescued, while efforts are underway to rescue those still trapped inside the tunnel.

Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar said, “This is an under-construction tunnel that is part of a hydroelectric power project operated by THDC. Around 6:30-6:45 pm today, a heavy landslide occurred, causing a significant amount of debris and water to enter the tunnel. Workers on an active shift were trapped inside. Around 14 to 15 people have been rescued so far. For the remaining trapped workers, teams from the NDRF, SDRF and all necessary machinery have been deployed at the site. We hope to safely evacuate everyone in the next few hours.”
