New Delhi: The CBI Court, Lucknow, today convicted and sentenced the accused Girijesh Kumar Gaur, the then Assistant Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer (ADSTE), North Central Railway, Banda, UP to Rigorous Imprisonment for Four Years with a fine of Rs. 20,000 in a bribery case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 27.05.2016 based on a complaint alleging that the accused Assistant Divisional Signal and Telecommunications Engineer (ADSTE), NCR, Banda, UP demanded bribe of Rs. 20,000 (10,000 prior to sanction and 10,000 after sanction of bills) for passing and sanctioning complainant’s bills worth Rs. 80,000 in respect of the vehicle engaged by him under contract with the office of ADSTE, NCR, Banda.
The CBI laid a trap on 27.05.2016 and caught the accused G. K. Gaur red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 9,700, against the alleged demand of Rs. 10,000, at his residence. After completion of investigation, the CBI filed Chargesheet on 24.06.2016 against the accused Girijesh Kumar Gaur.
The Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
