New Delhi: India’s rooftop solar sector witnessed unprecedented growth in 2025, adding a record 4.9 gigawatts (GW) of capacity in the first nine months (9M) of the calendar year, according to Mercom India’s Q3 2025 Rooftop Solar Market Report. This marks a 161% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to 1.9 GW installed in 9M 2024.

In Q3 2025 alone, rooftop solar installations surged to 2.1 GW, the highest quarterly addition to date. This represents a 29% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise from 1.6 GW in Q2 2025 and a 164% YoY jump from 791.1 MW in Q3 2024.
