Mumbai: Organic Recycling Systems Limited, a leading innovator in sustainable energy and resource recovery, has announced the appointment of Pankaj Tanwar as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Bioenergy Division. Tanwar brings over two decades of experience in environmental engineering, specializing in waste valorisation, resource recovery, and bioenergy. He holds an M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering and has led groundbreaking work in aerobic and anaerobic treatment technologies, particularly high-solids thermophilic digestion, which has significantly boosted biogas yields and improved the quality of fermented organic manure (FOM).
With a strong techno-commercial approach, Tanwar has successfully delivered projects in anaerobic digestion, biogas utilization, power generation, and Compressed Biogas (CBG) upgrading. His expertise also includes integrating thermal conversion technologies—such as gasification, pyrolysis, and incineration—into sustainable energy frameworks. His career reflects deep alignment with national and state bioenergy policies, advancing both centralized and decentralized initiatives.
During his tenure at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Tanwar contributed to innovative waste management systems, including zero liquid discharge (ZLD) solutions.
An accomplished researcher, he has authored more than ten SCI-indexed international journal papers and co-authored several book chapters on waste management, emission control, and circular economy strategies. His work includes developing intermittent cyclic processes to optimize biological systems and real-time monitoring tools for environmental applications.
Welcoming Tanwar to the leadership team, Sarang Bhand, Managing Director of Organic Recycling Systems Limited, stated: “We are delighted to have Pankaj lead our Bioenergy Division. His extensive experience, pioneering vision, and proven ability to transform challenges into opportunities will be instrumental in accelerating our bioenergy initiatives and driving sustainable growth.”
On his appointment, Tanwar commented: “I am honoured to join Organic Recycling Systems Limited at a time when bioenergy is emerging as a key pillar of India’s energy transition. I look forward to contributing to innovative, scalable, and sustainable solutions that support circular economy goals and align with national clean energy missions.”
