Greater Noida(National desk):The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five individuals involved in a major arms and ammunition seizure case in Mizoram. The case, which involves the alleged supply of weapons to a Bangladeshi militant outfit, has been under investigation since January 2025.
The accused—identified as Lalbiakchunga alias Divid alias David, Lalthawmcheuva alias Thawma, Malsawma alias Malsawma Loncheu, Rualliansanga alias Sanga, and Alok Bikash Chakma have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Foreigners Act, 1946.

The case was initially registered by the Mizoram Police on 15 January 2025. It was later taken over by the NIA, which re-registered it as RC-05/2025/NIA-DLI. During its probe, the agency uncovered a criminal conspiracy to smuggle a large cache of prohibited arms and ammunition to cadres of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), a militant outfit operating out of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The NIA revealed that the arms were seized from Saithah village in Mizoram’s Mamit district and included six AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, and 10,050 rounds of ammunition.
Officials confirmed that investigations are still ongoing and further developments are expected as the agency continues to probe the cross-border links of the accused.
