New Delhi: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a Tata Power-led utility, has successfully completed the restoration of critical infrastructure across southern Odisha following the impact of Cyclone Montha. The cyclone brought intermittent rain and gusty winds, disrupting power supply across the region. Through rapid mobilization and coordinated efforts, TPSODL ensured swift recovery of electricity and essential public services.

Deploying a ground force of 5,925 employees, TPSODL prioritized the restoration of vital installations including drinking water infrastructure, major hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and other essential networks. All critical facilities have now been fully re-energized, enabling uninterrupted healthcare and water supply operations.

The company worked in close coordination with district authorities to expedite restoration timelines and minimize disruption. At the distribution level, 94% of restoration work has been completed, with backup power systems deployed in vulnerable areas to prevent feeder tripping and flooding-related outages.

TPSODL continues to maintain high alert status, with 24×7 control room monitoring and full manpower mobilization. Coordination with Public Health Engineering and Health Department officials remains ongoing to ensure immediate response to any fresh outages caused by continuing rainfall and wind alerts.

Commenting on the restoration efforts, TPSODL emphasized its commitment to resilience, operational agility, and community welfare. The company’s proactive approach and pre-storm preparedness have played a crucial role in minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of essential services.

Cyclone Montha’s aftermath tested the robustness of Odisha’s power infrastructure, and TPSODL’s swift response has reinforced its position as a reliable and responsive utility partner in disaster recovery.
