Mumbai: In a landmark development for global enterprise IoT ecosystems, Tata Communications, a leading global communications technology provider, today announced a strategic collaboration with Cisco aimed at redefining how businesses connect, manage, and scale their connected devices worldwide. As enterprises continue to expand their IoT operations, the management of large-scale device fleets—ranging from connected vehicles to industrial sensors—presents persistent challenges. These include fragmented SIM hardware due to multiple vendors and standards, complex provisioning processes, and limited interoperability across diverse networks and technologies. Such hurdles impede deployment timelines, increase operational costs, and restrict scalability, thereby undermining the confidence and impact of enterprise IoT initiatives.
Under this collaboration, Tata Communications’ MOVE platform—an intelligent, multi-generational global eSIM orchestration solution, which has delivered over 350 million eSIM Operating Systems (OS) and manages SIM lifecycles across more than 200 countries and territories—will be integrated into Cisco’s IoT Control Center. This cloud-based device management platform currently supports over 32,000 enterprises and more than 270 million SIM-enabled IoT devices, including 100 million connected vehicles. By leveraging the combined expertise of Tata Communications and Cisco, enterprises will gain the ability to:
- Seamlessly activate and manage devices across SIM providers, private and public networks, and eSIM standards
- Accelerate time-to-market through a unified and frictionless connectivity experience
- Achieve deep visibility and control across all layers of IoT deployment
- Minimize integration complexity and avoid vendor lock-in
This collaboration represents a pivotal shift, offering enterprises enhanced control, agility, and operational efficiency across their connected device ecosystems. Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVE, commented: “The continuous evolution of eSIM technologies is driving a transformative shift in how enterprises connect and manage their IoT devices. The unmatched capabilities of Tata Communications’ intelligent IoT fabric, combined with Cisco’s proven device management platform, will empower global businesses to unlock new opportunities, streamline operations, and accelerate digital transformation. We are proud to lay the foundation for the future of connected enterprises—enabling them to scale faster, smarter, and with greater confidence.”
The collaboration is expected to deliver significant benefits to industries such as transportation, logistics, and manufacturing, where reliable IoT connectivity is critical. For example, trucking companies will be able to activate trailers across borders without the need for local SIM cards, and utility providers can monitor infrastructure across private and public networks without reconfiguring devices.
Masum Mir, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cisco Provider Mobility, added: “Together, Cisco and Tata Communications are driving innovation and unlocking new opportunities through our joint efforts in eSIM technology. As enterprises demand greater simplicity, automation, and scalability to manage increasingly complex use cases, we view eSIM as a foundational technology. Tata Communications’ proven track record as a trusted Cisco partner made them the ideal collaborator as we advance our vision for mobility services—particularly in managing connected vehicles throughout their lifecycle, from manufacturing to dealership to road deployment.”
Cisco and Tata Communications aim to establish a new benchmark for the IoT industry—one defined by interoperability, scalability, and lifecycle intelligence. Through this partnership, the companies will enable enterprises worldwide to accelerate innovation, unlock new revenue streams, and optimize connected operations, fostering seamless interactions between people, spaces, and devices.
