New Delhi: SpiceJet has significantly ramped up its operational capacity ahead of the winter travel season, adding five more Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet, including one Boeing 737 MAX. This marks a total of 15 aircraft inductions in just over a month, comprising 14 planes acquired on damp lease—two of which are 737 MAX—and the successful reactivation of a previously grounded Boeing 737 MAX from the airline’s inventory.
With these additions, SpiceJet’s active fleet now stands at 35 aircraft. All five newly inducted planes have already commenced commercial operations, enhancing connectivity across high-demand domestic and international routes. The expansion is strategically timed to meet the surge in passenger traffic during the festive and holiday season.
As of September 30, 2025, SpiceJet was operating 100 daily flights. Following the latest fleet boost, the airline’s daily operations have risen sharply to 176 flights, reflecting a robust response to market demand.
Commenting on the development, Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, stated, “SpiceJet’s winter expansion is a reflection of the strong demand in the market and our readiness to meet it. With 15 new aircraft joining our fleet and daily flights surging to 176, we are not only expanding our footprint but also reinforcing our commitment to reliable, affordable, and convenient air travel for millions of passengers.”
The move underscores SpiceJet’s aggressive growth strategy and its focus on operational resilience, especially during peak travel periods. The airline’s decision to induct aircraft through damp leasing and reactivate grounded assets highlights its adaptive approach to fleet management and service delivery.
