New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwar): The India team that will play the white ball series against England from January 22 will miss the services of their captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The same ODI series will follow the three-match T20I series.
Workload management is going to ensure Bumrah’s absence from T20Is, and Rohit and Virat have already gone ahead with retirement. The three-match ODI series against England commenced on February 6.
These three will miss the ODI series too, which is going to be India’s final 50-over encounter to the Champions Trophy 2025.
Rohit, Virat, and Jasprit are playing for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. They could not make a single run out of them, but the great Jasprit Bumrah is becoming deadlier day by day, having taken 30 wickets in four Test matches.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is going to begin from February 19. All the India-centric matches and semis will be played in the hybrid format mega event of Dubai. If India reaches the final, the tournament will come to an end with the final too in Dubai.
India is going to begin their campaign in the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh on February 20. On February 23, the team has to face Pakistan in a thrilling match.
The ICC breaks the teams further into two groups. It makes six teams each in Group A and B, and a champion of last year’s Champions Trophy and one host, that Pakistan is today, are the parts of the group.
Group A contains India, New Zealand and Bangladesh. In the other end, Group B will contain Australia, the winner of Cricket World Cup 2023, Afghanistan, England, and South Africa.
