Greater Noida: The Maharishi Markandeshwar Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (MMIPR), a constituent institute of Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana, Ambala, celebrated International Women’s Day in collaboration with Women Study Centre, MMDU, Mullana with a series of academic and community-oriented activities aimed at promoting women’s health and empowerment. The events were organised under the esteemed guidance of Hon’ble Chancellor Tarsem Garg Ji, along with Dr. Vishal Garg Ji Secretary and Treasurer MM Trust and Dr. Meenakshi Garg Ji Trustee MM Trust, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Manu Goyal, whose visionary leadership continues to encourage academic excellence and social responsibility within the institute.

On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Manu Goyal highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment, health awareness, and equal opportunities for women in society. He emphasized that improving women’s health and promoting awareness about hygiene and rehabilitation are essential steps toward building a healthier and more empowered community.

As part of the celebration, an E-Symposium titled “Give to Gain: Investing in Women’s Rehabilitation for a Healthier Future” was organised in online mode. The symposium aimed to enhance academic knowledge regarding women’s health rehabilitation, provide exposure to students and professionals through expert lectures, encourage interdisciplinary learning and clinical skill development, and promote awareness about the role of physiotherapy in women’s health. The event began with a welcome address and featured insightful expert talks by distinguished speakers Prof. (Dr.) Deepika Dhamija Lamba, Dr. Divya Gaur, Dr. Pradip Kumar Sarkar, and Dr. Shefali Gambhir, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions.
In addition to the academic event, MMIPR also conducted an ISR outreach programme titled “Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program” in nearby slum areas of Mullana, Ambala. The outreach activities included awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, education on hygienic practices and menstrual health, and interactive counselling sessions aimed at promoting better health awareness among women and adolescent girls. During the programme, sanitary pads were distributed by Assistant Professor Dr. Shivangi and Assistant Professor Dr. Urvashi, encouraging the adoption of safe menstrual hygiene practices among the beneficiaries.
Furthermore, students of MMIPR presented a Nukkad Natak (street play) highlighting the importance of women’s health, dignity, and hygiene, effectively spreading awareness in an engaging and impactful manner. Through these initiatives, MMIPR reaffirmed its commitment to community service, health education, and the empowerment of women through knowledge and awareness.
