New Delhi: The Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD) has been conferred with a prestigious award for its exceptional contribution to the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PMJANMAN). Shri Anil Malik, Secretary of the Ministry, received the award on behalf of the WCD Ministry from the President of India during the National Conclave on ‘Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan’ held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the conclave brought together key stakeholders working to uplift tribal communities across India. The recognition highlights the WCD Ministry’s pivotal role in empowering Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) through targeted interventions under the PMJANMAN scheme.

As part of its implementation efforts, the Ministry has successfully operationalized over 2,000 Anganwadi Centres in PVTG regions. These centres serve as critical access points for nutrition, early childhood care, and maternal health services — ensuring that tribal families at the last mile are not left behind in India’s development journey.

The PMJANMAN scheme, launched to address the unique challenges faced by tribal populations, focuses on justice, inclusion, and welfare. The WCD Ministry’s contribution has been instrumental in translating these goals into tangible outcomes, especially in remote and underserved areas.

By strengthening Anganwadi infrastructure and deploying trained personnel, the Ministry has enhanced service delivery and community engagement in tribal belts across states. This has led to improved health indicators, better nutritional outcomes, and increased awareness among tribal women and children.

The award not only acknowledges administrative excellence but also underscores the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration in achieving inclusive development. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the WCD Ministry have worked in tandem to ensure that PMJANMAN reaches its intended beneficiaries with efficiency and compassion.

Speaking at the event, Shri Anil Malik expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the welfare of tribal communities. “This award reflects the dedication of our teams working on the ground. We remain focused on expanding outreach and deepening impact through sustained efforts,” he said.

The felicitation at Vigyan Bhawan marks a significant moment in India’s tribal development narrative, celebrating the convergence of policy, execution, and empathy in public service.
