New Delhi: JSW Steel has reported consolidated crude steel production of 24.95 lakh tonnes for October 2025, marking a 9% year-on-year increase compared to 22.81 lakh tonnes in October 2024. The surge was primarily driven by strong performance across Indian operations, which contributed 24.12 lakh tonnes—up 10% from the previous year’s 21.99 lakh tonnes. JSW Steel USA – Ohio added 0.83 lakh tonnes to the total, maintaining steady output levels.
Despite the overall growth, capacity utilisation for Indian operations stood at 83%, slightly lower due to the temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant. The shutdown is part of an ongoing upgrade to expand BF3’s capacity from 3.0 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA. Excluding BF3, the capacity utilisation for October 2025 was approximately 92%. The upgraded BF3 is expected to resume operations by February 2026.
JSW Steel, the flagship company of the US$ 23 billion JSW Group, continues to lead India’s steel sector with a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA, including 1.5 MTPA in the United States. The domestic capacity currently stands at 34.2 MTPA, with plans to scale up to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years. The Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka remains India’s largest single-location steel-producing plant, operating at 17.5 MTPA.
The company’s strategic collaboration with JFE Steel of Japan enables access to advanced technologies for producing high-value special steel products used across construction, infrastructure, automotive, electrical, and appliance sectors.
JSW Steel has earned global recognition for its sustainability and operational excellence. It has been named a Steel Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association for seven consecutive years (2019–2025), and received high ratings in CDP climate and water disclosures. The company’s SEED (Sustainable Energy Environment & Decarbonisation) initiative was honored at COP28 as an Energy Transition Changemaker.
Four of JSW Steel’s operations are now Responsible Steel Certified, covering over 80% of domestic crude steel production. The company ranks 8th among the top 35 global steelmakers in the World Steel Dynamics rankings and 2nd in the S&P Global CSA Score 2024.
Aligned with India’s climate commitments under the Paris Accord, JSW Steel aims to reduce CO₂ emissions from steel-making operations by 42% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions across all directly controlled operations by 2050. It also targets 100% renewable energy usage in steel-making by 2030, along with biodiversity preservation, improved air quality, reduced water consumption, and zero liquid discharge across its sites.
