New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwari): Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated for ICC Cricketer of the Year and also in the category of ICC Test Cricketer of the Year.

For him, this year also, would not be easy to get another good season like he got the previous season since he features in the same category where there are other prominent nominees like England’s Joe Root and Harry Brook, besides Australian batsman  Travis Head.

In the eight games, he claimed 15 wickets, two of which were in the final as India headed off to conclude with a clean sweep in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He also played marvelous innings in Test cricket this season and took a fabulous tally of 71 wickets in just 13 matches, claimed by the cricketing body.

The star cricketer will win both the awards and it would be decided based on fan votes from all over the world. Fans can vote for it online on the ICC website till January 10.

Bumrah has been the best seam bowler in Test cricket in 2024 when he could take 71 wickets only in 13 games with an average of 14.92 and strike rate of 30.16 and the best so far this year as well as dominating Border Gavaskar Trophy with the wicket of 30 in just four Tests.

The ICC decided to focus more on the fabulous comeback of Bumrah to Test cricket. They mention that after back injury in 2023, one of his significant performances was the match-winning spell in Perth that helped India win by a margin of 295 runs apart from a dominating spell during the T20 World Cup.
