Gurugram: IntelliSmart Infrastructure, India’s leading digital infrastructure company, has signed a ₹1,700 crore contract to deploy 24 lakh smart meters under Phase II of the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) project. The agreement was formalized with REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), the project implementing agency appointed by DGVCL.
With this latest win, IntelliSmart’s total smart meter order book in Gujarat has crossed 70 lakh units, and its national portfolio now stands at 2.25 crore meters — one of the largest in the country. The company is already executing two major smart metering projects in Gujarat: 28.75 lakh meters for Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) and 17.7 lakh meters for DGVCL under Phase I.
The Phase II project will be implemented across key districts including Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Valsad, Vapi, and Navsari under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), following the DBFOOT (Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate, and Transfer) model. IntelliSmart has already deployed 6.9 lakh smart meters under Phase I of the DGVCL project, showcasing strong execution capabilities.

The project is expected to generate over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in Gujarat, further contributing to the state’s digital and economic growth. IntelliSmart continues to lead the world’s largest power sector digitalisation programme under RDSS, which aims to install 25 crore smart meters across India by 2028. As of now, over 4 crore smart meters have been deployed nationwide.
By enhancing DISCOM performance and enabling real-time energy monitoring, IntelliSmart’s initiatives are strengthening the operational and financial health of India’s power distribution sector.
