The protest has started across the country, but the Indian leaders have started ‘words-war’ on the social media.
Mentioning people’s right to protest, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi writes on social media platform ‘X’, “Truth, non-violence, and fearlessness—these are Bapu’s greatest legacy. They taught us never to bow before injustice; standing firm with truth and non-violence is true strength.”
Since many organisations have called for protest across the country and this may turned into a violence protest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi writes, “The entire life of revered Bapu is a beacon of truth, non-violence, compassion, and service that will continue to pave the way for humanity in every era.”
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav remembers mass movement on Mahatma Gandhi and writes on X, “Salutations on the occasion of his birth anniversary to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi ji, the greatest devotee of truth and non-violence, who by giving the form of a mass movement to the freedom struggle, uprooted the British Empire from India through the path of Satyagraha, and gave a message of self-restraint, simplicity, and self-control to the entire human race through his life.”
West Bengal’s former chief minister Mamata Banerjee writes, “On Gandhi Jayanti, I bow to Bapu Ji and remember his timeless message of truth, simplicity and service. May every step towards a stronger India remain guided by Gandhi ji’s ideals.”
Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader, Amit Shah highlight Mahatma Gandhi’s Swadeshi movement and writes, “Mahatma Gandhi ji did not consider Swaraj merely as the goal of freedom, but as the foundation of self-respect and self-reliance. With the belief that no nation can become great without being connected to its roots, he established Swadeshi, one’s own language, one’s own culture, and cleanliness as the fundamental philosophy of Indian society. Gandhi ji taught through his life that when there is devotion in action and purity in thoughts, no goal is impossible. On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji, who gave the message of truth, non-violence, and compassion to the entire world.”
Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal points out Gadhi’s thought of Bapu taught of Unity against injustice. He writes, “the entire nation that truth and non-violence are the greatest powers. Unity against injustice is the greatest weapon. Courage and satyagraha are your companions in facing even the greatest challenges.”
Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge shares a quote of Mahatma Gandhi, “First they will ignore you, then they will laugh at you, then they will fight you, and then you will win.” He further writes, “The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who gave strength to truth, courage to non-violence, and made Satyagraha the most powerful weapon against injustice, not only guided India’s freedom struggle but also showed the entire world the path of humanity, compassion, and peace. Today, when new challenges stand before his thoughts and values, remaining steadfast on Bapu’s principles of truth, non-violence, harmony, and justice is the true tribute to him. On Gandhi Jayanti, humble salutations to Bapu and heartfelt best wishes to all fellow countrymen.”
DMK President MK Stalin writes, “He kept engaging in continuous dialogue with society. He constantly exposed himself and his thoughts to evolution and change. Yet, he remained true.”
