New Delhi: Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has announced an ambitious plan to train and upskill over 5 lakh MSMEs by 2030 through its flagship initiative, the Stainless Academy. This milestone aligns with national programs like Make in India and Skill India, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce for India’s fast-growing stainless steel industry, which is projected to expand at 8–9% annually in the coming years.
Since its inception, the Stainless Academy has already trained 60,000 MSME fabricators, educated 9,000 students across engineering and polytechnic colleges, and conducted multiple industry sessions. Building on this momentum, the Academy is now scaling its outreach to empower MSMEs, students, and young professionals with advanced skills, category awareness, and practical expertise.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, emphasized: “In our pursuit of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, building human capital is paramount. The Stainless Academy is our commitment to shaping that future, by fostering knowledge, skill, and excellence at every level of the value chain. Our goal is not only to prepare a competent workforce, but to build an ecosystem that propels India’s industrial growth on the global stage.”
The Stainless Academy adopts a comprehensive model to strengthen the ecosystem:
- Academic Partnerships: Collaborates with IITs, NITs, and polytechnic colleges to offer specialized stainless steel courses. Recently, classes began at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara under an MoU for advanced research and training in stainless steel applications across transportation, infrastructure, and logistics.
- Fabricator Training Programs (FTPs): Hands-on grassroots training for MSME fabricators in fabrication techniques, design, and quality standards.
- Downstream Industry Programs: Workshops and classroom sessions to modernize operations, integrate digital technologies, and enhance productivity.
- Community Outreach: Stainless Academy vans travel across states, conducting exhibitions and roadshows to spread awareness and provide localized training.
By 2030, the Academy aims to reach MSMEs across India’s key stainless steel clusters, including Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and West Bengal. This expansion ensures equitable access to skill development opportunities across both urban and rural communities.
Vijay Sharma, Director – Corporate Affairs, Jindal Stainless, added: “Stainless steel underpins nearly every critical sector of the nation. As the industry evolves, so must the skills that drive it. Through the Stainless Academy, we aim to nurture a culture of continuous learning and upskilling — one that keeps pace with new technologies, processes, and possibilities. It’s not just about training the workforce of today, but preparing the workforce of tomorrow.”
The Academy collaborates with Sector Skills Councils such as the Capital Goods SSC and the Iron & Steel SSC to strengthen curriculum design. It also partners with NSDC-accredited organizations to expand outreach and ensure standardized, industry-relevant training.
Through technical training, industry collaboration, and community engagement, Jindal Stainless is positioning India’s stainless steel industry for long-term competitiveness and self-reliance. The Stainless Academy’s vision is to create a thriving, future-ready workforce that will support industrial progress and global leadership for decades to come.
