New Delhi: ReNew Energy Global Plc, a leading decarbonisation solutions company, announced a landmark investment of approximately ₹82,000 crore (US$9.3 billion) in Andhra Pradesh’s green energy portfolio, reinforcing its long-term commitment to India’s energy transition. The announcement includes four new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹60,000 crore (US$6.7 billion), signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, adding to the ₹22,000 crore (US$2.5 billion) already committed in May 2025.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh, alongside senior officials and ReNew leadership. The new investments will span a diversified portfolio including:
- A 6 GW PV ingot-wafer manufacturing plant,
- A 2 GW pumped hydro energy storage project,
- A 300 KTPA green ammonia production facility,
- 5 GW of hybrid renewable energy projects combining wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Chief Minister Naidu stated, “Andhra Pradesh is committed to emerging as a national leader in renewable energy, and partners like ReNew play a crucial role in advancing this vision. ReNew’s continued investments reinforce the confidence that global industry leaders have in the state’s policies, infrastructure, and talent.”
Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of ReNew, added, “With this expansion, we are bringing a fully integrated clean energy value chain to Andhra Pradesh—from wafer manufacturing to large-scale renewable projects and storage deployment. This will strengthen domestic supply chains, create high-quality skilled jobs, and advance India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.”
Strategic Expansion & Impact
ReNew’s latest commitment builds on its May 2025 announcement of a ₹22,000 crore investment to develop one of India’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects in Anantapur district. That project includes:
- 1.8 GWp solar capacity,
- 1 GW wind capacity,
- 2 GWh battery energy storage system.
With a total generation capacity of 2.8 GW, the Anantapur project is among the largest renewable installations at a single location in India.
ReNew currently operates 717 MW of wind and 60 MW of solar capacity across 10 sites in Andhra Pradesh. The company’s expanded footprint is expected to generate over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the state’s ambitious targets of 78.5 GW solar, 35 GW wind, and 25 GWh battery energy storage capacity.
Policy Alignment & Future Outlook
The investment aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy roadmap and India’s broader decarbonisation goals. By integrating solar manufacturing, energy storage, and green ammonia production, ReNew is positioning itself as a key enabler of sustainable industrial growth and export-oriented green energy solutions.
The collaboration also reflects growing confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s policy clarity, infrastructure readiness, and skilled workforce. With this move, ReNew strengthens its role as a strategic partner in accelerating India’s energy transition and building a resilient, low-carbon economy.
