Mumbai: Reliance Power Limited’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Reliance Nu Energies Private Limited, has emerged as the largest winner in the first-of-its-kind 1500 MW / 6000 MWh Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) ISTS tender issued by SJVN Limited, a leading Navratna enterprise. The company secured 750 MW / 3000 MWh — representing 50% of the total tender allocation — through a competitive online reverse auction, setting a new benchmark tariff of ₹6.74 per kWh.

The project will feature an installed capacity of approximately 900 MWp of solar power integrated with over 3000 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed to deliver dispatchable renewable peaking power to DISCOMs across India. This hybrid configuration supports grid stability and round-the-clock clean energy supply, aligning with India’s decarbonization and energy transition goals.

The SJVN FDRE tender marks a pioneering initiative in India’s renewable energy landscape, being the first structured program to supply firm renewable power during peak demand hours. The auction saw robust participation, oversubscribed by 3.3 times, with 14 qualified bidders competing for allocations.

With this win, Reliance Group has consolidated its position as India’s largest player in the Solar + BESS segment, now commanding a cumulative portfolio of over 4 GWp of solar and 6.5 GWh of BESS capacity across four tenders — all awarded by Navratna enterprises — within just 10 months. This rapid scale-up underscores the Group’s execution capabilities and strategic commitment to clean energy leadership.

Commenting on the milestone, the company emphasized its long-term vision to transition toward sustainable energy sources while creating value for stakeholders. The project is expected to play a pivotal role in enabling India’s renewable energy ambitions and strengthening the country’s energy security.
