New Delhi: In a major step towards promoting Jammu & Kashmir’s prized aromatic rice, Sarveshwar Foods Limited (SARVESHWAR BSE: 543688 INE324X01026) announced a tri-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) and Sagam Mushkbudji Farmer Producer Company (FPC) for the procurement and nationwide distribution of Mushkbudji rice.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of BIRC 2025, marking a strategic collaboration aimed at formalizing commercial transactions and strengthening the supply chain for this niche rice variety. The MoU outlined a mutual intent to procure an indicative quantity of 500 metric tons (MT) of Mushkbudji rice, valued at approximately ₹7.5 crore, for pan-India distribution.

The three signatories — Sagam FPC, representing local growers; IREF, the apex body of rice exporters; and Sarveshwar Foods Ltd, a leading food company specializing in Jammu & Kashmir produce — pledged to establish a framework for good-faith cooperation. The agreement emphasized product quality expectations, future definitive agreements, and direct benefits to farmers through improved market access and supply chain efficiency.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Gupta, Chairman of Sarveshwar Foods Limited, stated, “Sarveshwar Foods is committed to promoting the unique agricultural wealth of Jammu and Kashmir. This MoU formalizes our intent to expand the reach of this exquisite rice variety to consumers across the country.”

Dr. Prem Garg, National President of IREF, added, “This collaboration is crucial. It connects premium, niche agricultural produce like Mushkbudji directly to established markets, providing fair value to our FPCs and enhancing India’s portfolio of specialty rice exports.”

Shabir Ahmad Baba, Authorized Signatory for Sagam Mushkbudji FPC, welcomed the initiative, saying, “This arrangement opens a huge opportunity for our farmers. It provides stability and confidence that our unique produce will find the market it deserves.”

The MoU is expected to catalyze future commercial agreements, elevate Mushkbudji rice’s visibility in national markets, and empower local farming communities in Jammu & Kashmir through structured procurement and branding support.
